Senior Business Developer, Director of Business Development, or VP of Business Development

Job description

This is a 100% remote role for candidates based in the Washington D.C. Metro Area (D.C., Maryland, Virginia). Candidates can be located within a 2-hour commute from Alexandria, Virginia.

Location: Remote, with preference for candidates based in the DC-Metro area
Employment Type: Full-time, W2

Overview:
Viderity, a fast-growing, woman-owned HUBZone small business with a strong civilian track record and recent momentum in defense, is seeking a strategic and well-connected senior business development executive. This leader will be responsible for opening doors across the DoD ecosystem, building partnerships with primes and integrators, and positioning Viderity as a go-to small business for technology, creative, and program management solutions.

We’re looking for a scrappy, self-starting leader with a strong history of getting on winning teams with high PWIN, even without incumbent past performance. The ideal candidate brings a robust network, recent DoD wins, and a drive to help a small firm enter and grow within the defense market.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead growth strategy for all defense-related markets, with additional focus on civilian agencies as time permits

  • Leverage your existing network of mid and large prime partners to shape and secure teaming opportunities for full-and-open and small business set-aside contracts

  • Proactively identify, qualify, and shape DoD opportunities aligned to Viderity’s capabilities in IT, digital services, communications, creative, and strategic program support

  • Guide the company through the pre-capture and capture lifecycle, including shaping, teaming, proposal strategy, and gate reviews

  • Represent Viderity at industry events and directly engage DoD partners, customers, and influencers

  • Work closely with the team to prioritize pursuits, refine offerings, and build credibility within the defense sector

  • Support the development of capability statements, white papers, RFIs, and proposals for key opportunities

  • Collaborate across the company to infuse DoD expertise and increase readiness for defense capture

Job requirements

Qualifications:

  • Extensive federal business development experience, with a minimum of 2+ years focused on DoD and a record of recent wins

  • Strong, active relationships with partner companies (especially mid and large primes) and a proven ability to gain teaming slots without requiring incumbent past performance

  • Proven recent track record of securing significant DoD business

  • Strong understanding of DoD buying behaviors, acquisition trends, contracting vehicles, and capture strategy

  • Comfortable leading strategic conversations with senior decision-makers inside the company and across the DoD landscape

  • Ability to thrive in a lean, high-growth environment where creativity, flexibility, and execution matter more than process

  • Experience in areas such as Zero Trust, cloud modernization, DevSecOps, and data strategy preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or certifications a plus

  • Secret clearance or clearance eligibility required

Why Viderity?
We’ve earned a strong reputation with civilian agencies like NSF, Marines, and USPTO, consistently receiving exceptional performance ratings for our work on large-scale modernization, cloud, analytics, web development, and creative services projects. Now we’re ready to expand into defense, and we’re seeking a business developer who can translate our civilian and commercial success into DoD wins.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape the defense go-to-market strategy of a small firm with bold ambitions. You’ll have high visibility, strong executive support, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact.
