Job description
This is a 100% remote role for candidates based in the Washington D.C. Metro Area (D.C., Maryland, Virginia). Candidates can be located within a 2-hour commute from Alexandria, Virginia.
Seeking an IT Scrum Master with experience in full life-cycle software development following Agile processes. Position will require management of new development, O&M, and end-of-life projects. Position will be responsible for oversight of all team deliverables on the project as well as conducting all agile team ceremonies including daily standup, product backlog management, iteration planning, retrospectives, and demos/reviews. This role on the project is responsible for performing story analysis, managing the evolution of the User Story and other backlog items, answering ad-hoc questions and providing clarification/direction to development and support teams requirements and product functions. Position will collaborate with Product Management and other Technical Team Leads in release planning (including but not limited to preparing user documentation, release notes, and conducting Release Demos) as well as facilitation of Quarterly Planning including coordination with dependent teams across the enterprise, as necessary.
Job requirements
Required Skills:
Experience with initiating, planning, scheduling, estimating, forecasting, coordinating, controlling, managing, and delivering IT projects
Experience with Agile processes and ceremonies, including managing and facilitating backlog refinement, iteration planning, daily stand ups, release demos, and retrospectives
Experience with reviewing story analysis to determine acceptance criteria, definition of ready, and definition of done -- along with impact to other systems, projects, domains, and operational teams as necessary
Experience in managing the evolution of User Stories and other backlog items (includes but not limited to breaking down the stories, eliciting conversations, facilitating story refinement sessions)
Knowledge of Agile software development frameworks, including Scaled Agile (SAFe), Kanban, and Scrum
Ability to collaborate with Product Owners, Business Partners, developers, and architects to build and define Product Backlogs and complete release planning
Ability to answer ad-hoc questions and providing clarification/direction to development and support teams requirements and product functions
Ability to anticipate, mitigate, and resolve risks and issues across various workgroups
Preferred Skills:
Experience in facilitating troubleshooting sessions with a development team
Experience in working with agile team teams to decentralize decision-making and acting as an escalation point when consensus decisions cannot be reached
Experience in requirements gathering, development of wireframes, and acceptance criteria
Experience with JIRA and Confluence
Knowledge of federal government development lifecycles
Possession of excellent interpersonal skills including oral and written communication, analytical, problem solving, organizational, issue resolution, and customer relationship management
